Introduction to Llangatwg Football

Football

Football is played in Llangatwg during the Autumn & Spring terms. There are teams for both boys & girls for all years in school. Football fixtures are primarily played between the schools of Neath/Port Talbot and also schools from Swansea. There are leagues for both boys and girls and Llangatwg try and get representation in as many year groups as possible.

There is also the opportunity for pupils to attend school practice which takes place on Tuesdays after school for boys on either the grass pitches or if the weather is bad on the school's own astroturf.

The school currently have 3 players on Swansea City's books. These are Year 10 pupils Chris Baker, Joshua Roberts and Year 8 pupil Connor Roberts.

This year Miss Paddison & a teacher from Morriston Comprehensive school have formed a new Swansea & Neath Port Talbot girls's football league whereby schoolgirls can play football weekly. this is a new initiative and is working with great sucess. Next season we will be aiming to have a league competition alongside the Welsh FA schools cup.

Girls football training is on tuesday lunchtime on the astro-turf and wednesdays after school on the grass. Matches are generally played on tuesday & wednesday after school.
