The Welsh Alphabet

 
 
The Welsh alphabet is made up of a total of 29 letters, some of which are actually double letters.

Unlike the English alphabet the following letters are not in the Welsh alphabet:
K, Q, V, X, Z

The following combination of double letters are used as single letters in the Welsh alphabet:
CH, DD, FF, NG, LL, PH, RH, TH

To help you to learn how to pronounce the Welsh alphabet listed below English words are listed alongside the letters, each of which contains a highlighted section (blue) that sounds similar to the pronunciation for the applicable Welsh alphabet letter.

The sound of this letter is produced by placing the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth (up against your front top teeth) then breathing out sharply through your mouth for about 1 second
