The Mathematics Department at Llangatwg Community School is an open and friendly department who strive to allow pupils to reach their potential.

 

Aims
The department aims to provide pupils with the following,
Arrow Pointer A solid understanding of numeracy and the ability to apply it in other subjects.
Arrow Pointer Problem solving techniques to enable pupils to test hypothesises.
Arrow Pointer An appreciation of Mathematics and the role it plays in today's society.
Arrow Pointer The necessary Mathematical skills required in managing everyday life.
Mathematics at Llangatwg
The Mathematics Faculty is a strong team and share a wealth of experiences and skills.

The Maths rooms at Llangatwg are located in the New Block. Each room provides a positive learning environment and promotes the ethos of achievement.

All rooms have a networked PC and access to a data projector.

As of September 2009 the New Block will house a computer suite with 30 computers, which will be available for the department to use

Pupils are taught using a wide range of teaching techniques designed to ensure both understanding and enjoyment. There are regular assessments and targets are discussed with pupils in order for progress to be made.
