Leisure & Tourism Department

Leisure and Tourism is taught in years 10 and 11. The subject can be studied as a single or double award GCSE. All students study leisure and tourism provision in the local area as well as investigating tourism destinations in other areas of the United Kingdom, Europe and other areas of the world.

Students following the double award course also study leisure and tourism organisations and businesses as well as investigating the dynamic nature of the leisure and tourism industries.

The department is very experienced, consistently obtains extremely good results and is highly regarded throughout Wales for its delivery of the subject. The department is heavily involved in the development of a range of resources to support leisure and tourism teaching throughout the country, working with the WAG, the WJEC and the National Museum of Wales, as well as other organisations.

Additionally, the department offers the opportunity for students to take part in overseas study visits to enhance their understanding of tourism destinations. Paris, Barcelona, Iceland, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon have all been visited in recent years.
